William H.G. Passwater

To the family of William H.G. Passwater, Sr: I would like to express my condolences for your loss. Bill was my brother also I too am a Vietnam Veteran I know there is not much that can be said in this time of sorrow that can ease the pain of your loss...This poem has always brought me some relief and made me realize that those who have left us in body are not gone at all.

I Am Not Dead

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow;

I am diamond glints of snow;

I am the sunlight on ripened grain;

I am the gentle autumn's rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush;

I am the swift uplifting rush

of quiet birds encircled flight.

I am the soft star that shines at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there, I did not die.
