Linda Nalepinski transitioned from this life on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Hospice House, surrounded by family.

Linda was born August 22, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Edward and Ellen (Tietz) Faulhaber. Linda graduated from Indiana University and taught math at Stanley Clark and the South Bend Community School Corporation for 22 years. She loved teaching middle school math. She instilled confidence in her student’s math capabilities and erased their fears of Mathematics.  After she retired, she volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society and tutored kids. Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Nalepinski; her daughters, Amy (Nick) Drost of Dallas TX, Angela (Sarah) Pollock of Fairfax CA, Allison (Hastings) Dewald of San Francisco CA; sons, Ryan Nalepinski of Scottsdale AZ, and Andrew (Shannon) Nalepinski of Osceola IN; grandchildren, Carter Drost, Lucas Drost, Nova Pollock, Addison Shackelford, and Autumn Nalepinski. Linda is survived by her sisters, Diane (Jim) Tubbs of Raleigh NC, Carol Faulhaber of San Rafael CA, Shirley (Dave) Koloszar of Granger IN; and her brother, Eddie Faulhaber of South Bend IN.

Linda cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. They brought her much joy. She loved working in her garden planting vegetables and picking flowers. Besides gardening, Linda was passionate about birds. Every day she would inquire if her blue birds were fed. About two years ago, Linda decided to take painting classes on Monday afternoons. She cherished this time and was called ‘Monet’ by those in her class. She spent time each week scrapbooking books for her grandchildren. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and she worked on various committees at St. Monica’s Parish in Mishawaka. Linda and her husband, Ron, enjoyed traveling. They began their journeys about ten years ago. They traveled to Alaska, China, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Canada. After seeing all these places, they realized they enjoyed walking the beach at New Buffalo, Michigan and watching the birds eat from their four-season room the most.

Visitation for Linda will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN 46628, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 16, 2017 in St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, IN 46545 at 11:00 a.m., with Father Jacob Meyer presiding. There will be an hour of visitation before the mass. A reception will follow.

It would please Linda tremendously if, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica’s Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, IN 46545, Livestrong at The YMCA, The YMCA of Michiana, 1201 Northside Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615 or RiverBend Cancer Services, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615.
