She was born on December 14, 1928 in St. Joseph County.  She was the daughter of the late Frank Galvas and Eleanor Galvas Thompson.  A lifelong resident of St. Joseph County, she graduated from Washington-Clay High School in 1946, where she was her class treasurer.  On August 21, 1948, she married Phillip D.
