I had the opportunity to work with Jim a few years before he retired. He used to eat lunch with us every day...but he seldom said a word. As the new kid at the table I would be yucking it up, telling stories, and stirring the pot whenever the topic got political or religious. Jim would just sit there and smile. After a few months I finally asked him "Why don't you ever talk at lunch?" He just shrugged his shoulders...still not saying a word. It took awhile but I finally got him to crack. He was a man of few words yet I can still remember almost every conversation, joke and piece of advice he gave me. He was always willing to listen and was never one to judge. We still talk about Jim from time to time at lunch. Somehow the man who said nothing is the one we miss the most! I am deeply saddened to know that I won't run into him at Barnaby's or the grocery store anymore. Jim was one of a kind. My condolences to his family, his friends, and all the people his life has touched.

Joan, My sincere sympathy on the loss of your husband Jim. He will be remembered in our Nurse Alumnae Caritas Mass Tuesday Feb 6th 11AM at Church of Loretto on campus of Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I will always remember him as a very kind and caring man. My prayers and sympathy to Joan who he loved so dearly. Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. I am sure Jim is now resting in God's arms as he begins his new life. I am also sure he is helping Joan begin hers.
