William "Bill" Gottlick Obituary

William “Bill” John Gottlick, 81, of Granger, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. He was born on March 17, 1944 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Sylvester and Rita (Decker) Gottlick. On September 12, 1963 in Holy Cross Catholic Church he married Barbara Mary Plodowski who survives him. Bill is also survived by two daughters, Pamela (George) Kennedy of Indianapolis, Indiana, Aimee (Pat) Matthews of Granger, Indiana, twelve grandchildren; Joshua Pauli, Kaitlyn Pauli, Meredith Pauli, Jenna Pauli, Max (Cara) Matthews, Alex (Katy) Matthews, Jack (Meg Marten) Matthews, Cole Matthews, Maya Matthews, Sarah (Evan) Boulware, Samuel Kennedy and Emma Grace Kennedy, two great grandchildren, Lily and Weston Matthews. Bill was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lora Pauli and one brother, Bud Gottlick.

Bill married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Barb. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. The three little girls that followed were just the beginning of a large, beautiful family. His family was everything to him. He was an avid sports fan, and he especially loved following the grandkids sporting events and extracurricular activities. His grandkids always knew their “Grandpy” was their biggest supporter.

Bill earned his B.S. in Business Administration from IUSB while he was working at Wheelabrator where he remained for over 25 years. In 1990 he went to work for Steel Warehouse from which he retired in 2010.

Bill was a man of deep faith. He and Barb would take daily drives which they called their “rosary runs” where they would pray the rosary and the “Divine Mercy Chaplet”. Bill was a loving model of faith and devotion to his family. We thank God for the gift of this wonderful man in our lives.
