Wendell H. Griffith, 76, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 surrounded by his children. He was born on July 16, 1948 in Piggott, Arkansas to the late Dewey W. and Juanita (Vincent) Griffith. On November 7, 1971 he married Marilyn Kaley who preceded him in death on June 7, 2016. Wendell is survived by four children, Rhonda (Danny) Sobieralski of South Bend, Indiana, Ronnie Scanlan of South Bend, Indiana, Joe (Nellie) Scanlan of South Bend, Indiana and Andy (Alice) Griffith of South Bend, Indiana, eleven grandchildren, LaVonne (Robb) Kasprzak, Allen (Connor) Sobieralski, Ronnie Scanlan III, Nick (Caylie) Scanlan, Jonathan Scanlan, Ashlie Nicks, Isaiah Nicks, Kevin Scanlan, Kristen Scanlan, Josh Scanlan and Andrea-Jo-Griffith, seven great grandchildren, three sisters, Charlotte (Joe) Barrier of South Bend, Indiana, Lisa (Dave) Moak of Golden Valley, Arizona, and Brenda Matthews of Chandler, Arizona, one brother, Brian (Debbie) Griffith of South Bend, Indiana and two sisters-in-law, Helen Kaley of South Bend, Indiana and Carolyn Peppers of South Bend, Indiana.
Wendell was a Navy Veteran from 1968-1971. He was a lifetime member of the Chain O’Lakes Conservation Club. He was a twenty-two-year survivor of a heart transplant. Wendell will truly be missed by everyone especially his family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, November 15, 2024 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Wendell’s honor to the Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club.
