Vivian Naomi Short Feltz went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior at 12:00 p.m. on November 15, 2018 after a full life of nearly 101 years.
She was born on November 25, 1917 in Grovertown, IN to the late Daniel and Lillian Short. In high school she played on the girls’ basketball team helping them to win many tournaments. She married Lester Feltz on November 27, 1935 in South Bend, IN.
Vivian was a talented writer and many of her short stories for children, penned under the name Naomi Trohs, were published from 1957-1966. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, crocheting, and painting landscapes in oil. She always had beautiful flowers growing around her home and even planted wildflowers throughout the woods. She enjoyed sweets and always had a piece of candy in her pocket.
Survivors include her four children Kennard (Ruth) Feltz, New Carlisle, IN, Beverly (Chuck) Curtis, East Palaka, FL, William (Debbie) Feltz, Westfield, IN, and Marcia (Kirk) Butler, Walkerton, IN, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Lillian Short, her husband, Lester Feltz, her two sisters, Estella (Babe) Tomlinson and Edna Gramm, and her brother William Short.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at the New Carlisle United Methodist Church, 300 E. Compton St., New Carlisle, with Rev. Andy Lauer officiating.
