Violet L. (Grant) McMinn

Violet L. McMinn,92, of South Bend, IN, passed away on June 24, 2018 at Creekside Village, Mishawaka, IN.

She was born on June 22, 1926 to the late Alexander C. and Carrie L. Grant in Montebello, VA, and has lived in the South Bend area since 1963, coming from West Caldwell, NJ.  Along with her parents; she was also preceded in death by four sisters, Frances Snyder, Lessie Mays, Marie Wilton, Helen Watson; and seven brothers, Dilard Grant, Hoover Grant, Tommy Grant, Edward Grant, Robert Grant, Lee Grant, and an infant brother.

Violet has worked as a waitress and hostess at the Morris Inn on the University of Notre Dame Campus.  She was also a Resident Manager for the Halfway House for Alcoholic Women in Mishawaka for two years.

On June 23, 1947, as Violet L. Grant, she married Allen D. McMinn.  He passed away on August 16, 1968.

Violet is survived by her daughter, Susan McMinn and her companion Bryan Glad of South Bend, IN; her son, William (Cathy) McMinn of Fenton, MO; four grandchildren, Jeffrey McMinn; Evan McMinn; Zachary (Nerkis) Roberts; Stephen Pantoja; two great grandchildren, Zander and Zara Roberts; and a sister, Barbara (Joe) Patterson of Waynesboro, VA.

A Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, with Pastor Shirley Fox officiating.  Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service on Friday.
