Vera M. Paul

Vera M. Paul, 99, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in the Raclin House, Mishawaka, Indiana.  Vera was born on October 16, 1923 in Elkhart, Indiana to Floyd H. and Elda (Westerman) Rowe.  She retired in 1990 from Easy Heat where she was employed for 23 years.  On August 26, 1946 in South Bend, she married James R. Paul, who preceded her in death on May 10, 1990.  She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Nicholas Garcia and her brother Floyd A. Rowe, Jr.  Vera is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. (Wayne) Martensen of Cassopolis, Michigan and Penny S. Garcia of New Carlisle, Indiana; five grandchildren, Chad Martensen, Mitchell Martensen, Adrianne (Joseph) Hurt, Rachel (Orlando) Mendez and Hannah (Alex) MacLeod; seven great-grandchildren, Parker MacLeod, Samuel MacLeod, Audrey MacLeod, Moriah MacLeod, Israel Hurt, Ella Mendez and Eli Mendez; two cousins, Mark (Debra) Rowe and Don Bishop, honorary family members, Judy and Lee Hope of Mishawaka, Indiana and Patti (Firtl) Ganzer of South Bend, Indiana.  Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow in the New Carlisle Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.  Vera was a 1941 graduate of New Carlisle High School and a member of the Lydick United Methodist Church.  She was a volunteer for 15 years at Memorial Hospital and was also a former Hospice volunteer.  She was discovered at age 85 for commercials and was featured in an Invision Commerical and also for Memorial Hospital Volunteers.  Vera enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre.  She loved nature and birds and was a wonderful cook.  Memorial Contributions should be directed to the Hospice Foundation
