Thomas C. Grzeskowiak

Thomas C. Grzeskowiak, 86, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 12:18 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026, in his home surrounded by his family.  Thomas was born on March 11, 1939 in South Bend to Clement and Josephine (Marocha) Grzeskowiak and was a lifelong resident.  He retired in 2005 from the Bendix Corporation.  He was also the owner of Tom’s Signs, a sign painting business.  Thomas is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Rolando) Hernandez, Paula Balderas and Jill Mejer all of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, Kevin (Lynne) Grzeskowiak of South Bend, Indiana and Jeff (Melody) Grzeskowiak of New Carlisle, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandy (Jim) Pontius of Osceola, Indiana; one brother, Melvin (Judy) Grzeskowiak of Elkhart, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Joanne Grzeskowiak of South Bend, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.  Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Josephine Grzeskowiak; his granddaughter, Melinda; his sister, Carol Kovacs; and his brother, Frederick Grzeskowiak.  A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.  A visitation will take place from Noon until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.  Thomas was a 1958 graduate of the original Washington High School on Sample Street.  He was a United States Army Veteran.  As a child he enjoyed playing baseball at Pulaski Park.  He was a huge Chicago Bears fan.  Thomas always had a joke to share.  He was a hard working family man, who was proud of his family.  The family wishes to thank his granddaughter Jalyn, and the Center for Hospice Care for their loving care of Thomas.  Memorial Contributions should be directed to the Center for Hospice Care or Fresenius Kidney Care Nephrology at Blackthorn.
