Thaddeus "Ted" Leonard Lubelski, 89, of South Bend passed away peacefully on Sunday August 18, 2024. He was born on August 14, 1935, in South Bend, IN to the late Thaddeus S. and Mary (Cholaj) Lubelski. On June 6, 1959 he married Betty L. Shafer in South Bend, IN, who survives.
Ted is also survived by his four daughters; Diana Harvey of Terre Haute, IN, Deborah (Eric) Moser of Carpentersville, IL, Denise Simmons of South Bend, IN and Dana (Pete) Slis of Palm Bay, FL and three sons; Daniel (Sandy) Lubelski of Rossford, OH, David (Debbie) Lubelski of West Lafayette, IN and Douglas (Jessica) Lubelski of South Bend, IN; 19 grandchildren, Christopher (Brianna) Lubelski, Danielle (Curtis) Deeter, Aaron (Sarah) Lubelski, Adam Lubelski, Ryan (Colleen) Harvey, Daryn (Bailey) Harvey, Bailey (Cheyenne) Moser Smith, Emily (Alex Williams) Moser, Jacob Moser, Matthew (Kendra) Simmons, Megan Simmons, Mia Simmons, Mitchell Simmons, Brodie Lubelski, Brooke Slis, Evan Lubelski, Addysen Lubelski and Taylor Mentag; 8 great grandchildren, Kha'le, Kardae, Jace, Rylynn, Anna, Gracelyn,Theodore and Amaya; and by his sisters,Theresa Wallace and Margie Sivak, both of South Bend. Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Derek Harvey.
Ted worked for Associated Truck Lines for 32 years and spent his retirement years in Edgewater, FL. He was a United States Army Veteran. Ted was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He loved to fix anything and everything, even if it didn't need to be fixed. He loved to read about military history and watch old Western style movies. His spirit animal was said to be a cat as he was known to have at least 9 lives!
Visitation with the family is from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday August 27, 2024, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, with a Memorial Service commencing at 12pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org.
