Sue Snyder

Sue Snyder, 89, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at The Center for Hospice Ernestine Raclin House in Mishawaka, IN.  She was born on January 18, 1936, in Jay County, IN, to the late Kenneth D. and Ida Mae (Ehrhart) Woods.  She resided in Salamonia, IN, for 12 years, before moving to the area.  Sue graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1954.  She went on to graduate with a BA from Ball State University in 1958.  Sue worked as a Special Education School Teacher for the South Bend Community School Corporation.  She spent many of her years at LaSalle High School, before retiring in 2000.  She is survived by five children, Barry Snyder of Granger, IN, Terry (Mary) Snyder of Indianapolis, IN, Garry Snyder of South Bend, Sandy Snyder of West Lafayette, IN and Kerry (Angel) Snyder of Mishawaka, seven grandchildren, Luke Snyder, Alex Snyder, Abby (Carter) Ammerman, Patton Snyder, Donovan Snyder, Jackson Snyder, and Landon Snyder, two great-grandchildren, Oak Ammerman, Ebb Ammerman.  Sue was Baptized Baptist and attended the Methodist Church, enjoyed sports, reading, playing cards, yardwork, gardening and especially activities that involved her grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Snyder, sister Lu Laughlin and brother-in-law Dick Laughlin.  A visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held following at 5 p.m. in the funeral home.  Private burial will take place at Highland Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Jenny Fund at Northwest United Methodist Church at 21855 Brick Road, South Bend, IN 46628 and/or St. Jude's @ www.stjude.org.
