Selma B. Staszewski

Selma B. Staszewski, 96, of South Bend, Indiana passed away 11:06 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.  Selma was born on August 27, 1926 in South Bend to Sylvester and Angela (Chudzicki) Nowacki.  On September 8, 1951, in South Bend, she married Hilary J. Staszewski, who preceded her in death on November 26, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jim Tyburski; one sister Rita Huber; and two brothers, Edward and Irvin Nowacki.  Selma is survived by three daughters, Patrica Olson and Lois (Jeff) Bauer both of South Bend, Indiana and Joyce (Thad) Wright of Bristol, Indiana; two sons, Thomas Staszewski and Robert (Sue) Staszewski both of South Bend, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Leslie (Aaron) Hoeppner, Lindsey (Jim) Foley, Nicholas (Jordynn) Bauer, Adam Staszewski, Katie Wright and Eli Wright,  Michael (Amanda) Tyburski and Brett (Katie) Tyburski, and Christopher Staszewski; nine great-grandchildren, Avery and Alyssa Hoeppner, Luke and Lyle Foley, J.J. Bauer, Drake, Erik and Max, and Owen Tyburski; and her sister- in-law, June Nowacki.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  Tuesday, November 22, 2022 in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will take place at a later date in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church.  Selma was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish where she was a member of the Rosary Society and Retirees Club. She was also a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church  and St. Casimir Church Retirees Club.  Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. John the Baptist Church.
