Rose Ann Hampshire

  Rose Ann Hampshire, 95, of New Carlisle, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021. Born February, 13, 1926, in South Bend to the late Eber Burch and Icie (Lawrence) Burch. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Art Hampshire (married in 1982) and two brothers, Ralph and Hugh Burch. Rose Ann is survived by her two sons, Raymond Wade and Steven (Teresa) Wade, both of New Carlisle. She moved with family to New Carlisle from Crumstown as a child and lived in New Carlisle most of her life. Rose Ann graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1944 and completed training to become a Registered Nurse at Gary Methodist Hospital. She worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Memorial Hospital in South Bend and Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, as a part of the US Cadet Nurse Corps . She enjoyed an active retirement, walking her dog, traveling, attending plays and concerts with friends, reading murder mysteries, watching public television and taking tea to the Old Republic. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her remains will be cremated. There will be no service. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Historic New Carlisle, Inc.
