Robert L. De Neve

Robert L. De Neve, 67, of New Carlisle, passed away on Thursday February 18, 2021 in his home, surrounded by his loving family, after over a 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer.
  He was born on May 4, 1953 in South Bend, to the late Frank H. and Margaret (Matthys) De Neve. He claimed residence in Crumstown, New Carlisle, South Bend, Galien, MI, and returned to New Carlisle and had lived there since 1996.
  On October 20, 1979, in St. Patrick's County Park, South Bend along the river, he married Shelley C. Breda, who preceded him in death on October 30, 2016.
  Robert is survived by his two sons, Levi (Rachelle) De Neve of New Carlisle and Lyle (Calyn) De Neve of South Bend; three grandchildren, Leah and Laurel De Neve of South Bend and Dayla De Neve of New Carlisle; five sisters, Pat Robinson of New Carlisle, Judy (Jack) Wagner of Indianapolis, IN, Janice Temmerman of Canada, Diane (Dick) Moroni of Granger, IN and Debi (Kent) Lipps of South Bend; and by three brothers, Ron (Linda) De Neve of New Carlisle, Bill (Jeanette) De Neve of FL and Jim (Jody) De Neve of New Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews.
   Robert was a 1972 graduate of New Prairie High School. As a youth he worked many years on the family farm where he acquired a great skill in construction which ultimately led him to a career with the Carpenters Union Local #413 of South Bend. There he enjoyed over 30 years in the trade where he specialized in interior carpentry and also honed an exceptional skill in custom woodworking.
  Robert cherished time spent with family and friends especially when it included listening to his favorite music, attending concerts, and watching sporting events.
  Robert can best be described as one of the hardest working men you'll ever meet. He put unparalleled effort into all aspects of his life. Most importantly, he will always be lovingly remembered as a caring sibling, a dedicated and committed husband, a loving father, a compassionate grandfather, a goofball uncle, a role model coach, and a hard working co-worker.
  A Celebration of Life for Robert is being held at 117 W. Ada St., New Carlisle, IN 46552 on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 1:00 pm EST.
