Robert J. Williams Obituary

           Robert J Williams, (age 78), of Gary -Tolleston, Indiana; Three Lakes, Wisconsin; and currently New Carlisle, Indiana passed away (6:30am EST on September 28, 2018) at Miller’s Merry Manor in New Carlisle. Staff was there beside his bed, holding his hand, and making him peaceful.

            He was born on October 17, 1939 to the late Robert Roy and Jeanette (Eagen) Williams in Gary, Indiana.  Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Brian Williams and loyal Sheltie dog, Katie.

            Bob graduated in 1957 from Tolleston High School in Indiana.  He did attend Ironworker Apprentice School and also did online accounting college courses.

Bob worked as a pinsetter in early years at Tolleston Bowling Alley; an American Bridge Ironworker; Timekeeper; and then Steel Scheduler at US Steel, Gary Works for 41 years.

            On June 19, 1965;  he married MaryEllyn (Davis) at City United Methodist Church Gary, IN.

            Bob is survived by his wife, MaryEllyn; a son, Scott (Susan) Williams of Rensselaer, IN; daughter, Debra Albano of New Carlisle, IN and extended son and daughter, Robert and Jennifer Marino of Minot, North Dakota.  Grandchildren are Zachary (Anna) Williams of New Jersey; Meleahna Williams of Rensselaer; Emily Albano of Lafayette, Indiana; and Ryan Albano of New Carlisle. Bob also has two younger brothers surviving Ralph (Judy) Williams of Winamac, IN; and Jim (Jan) Williams of Wahkon, MN.

            Bob was a Christian man who loved Christ and led his family in understanding the ultimate sacrifice Christ accomplished. He was a member, at one time or another to City First United Methodist Gary, IN; Portage First United Methodist Portage, IN; Three Lakes Lutheran Three Lakes, WI; and New Carlisle United Methodist Church, New Carlisle, IN.  Bob participated as usher at first three churches and participated in Bible Studies not only at churches but also at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home.

            Bob was a member of Eagle River Masonic Lodge #248 F&A.M, Wisconsin; Scottish Rite 32nd, South Bend, IN; Beja Shriners Green Bay, WI; Eagle Chapter #218 Order of the Eastern Star where he was past patron; American Legion Post 297, New Carlisle, IN; and Three Lakes Genealogical Society which allowed him to research his Williams family back to 1547 and his Mother’s family not quite as far.

            Burial was held at Three Lakes Cemetery in Wisconsin.  Celebration of Life Service will be  Spring/Summer of 2019 at New Carlisle United Methodist Church.  Further details may be forwarded to those who wish to send their name and address to Kaniewski Funeral Home web site.
