Robert J. Boyd, Jr.

Robert J. Boyd, Jr., 81 of Mishawaka passed away on Monday August 12, 2024 at Sanctuary Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend.  He was born on May 14, 1943 in Hoboken, NJ, to the late Robert J, Boyd, Sr. and Grace G. (Devine) Boyd.  On June 15, 1968 in Trenton, NJ he married Nadine I. Tegzes who survives.  He was a faithful and loving husband to Nadine having recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.  Bob is also survived by his son, Robert J. (Misty) Boyd of Indianapolis, IN, and his four daughters Jocelyn (Ralphy Rosario) Boyd of Savanna, IL, Sharon C. Boyd of Fort Moore, GA, Natalie A. (Matthew Kennedy) Boyd of Edwardsburg, MI, and Kristen M. (Michael Dombroski) Bope of South Bend and grandchildren Emma Bope, Gideon Boyd, Wesley Boyd, Archer Dombroski, Cohen Dombroski and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived by his brother Michael Boyd of Old Bridge, NJ.  Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers James Boyd and Stephen Boyd and a sister Geraldine Madison.

Bob began his career at Bendix International in New York City through Honeywell (Aircraft Landing Systems) South Bend retiring after 32 years of service as a Senior Customer Service Planner.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran, a member of the Sacred Heart Parish, Notre Dame and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 00553.

Bob was an avid reader, golf enthusiast, and league bowler, so proud that he once bowled a perfect 300 game.  He was a fan and supporter of ND football, ice hockey and women's basketball.  In his retirement Bob loved traveling the U.S. and spending winters as "snowbirds" in Perdido Key, FL.  He will be remembered as a loving and cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  at 11 a.m. Monday,  August 26, 2024 in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart Crypt, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the Mass.  Inurnment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery,  Notre Dame.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Parish, 104 The Presbytery, Notre Dame, IN 46556, Women's Care Center, 360 N.
