Robert J. Bilski

Robert J. Bilski, 87, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Southfield Village in South Bend, IN.

He was born on April 19, 1937 to the late Joseph and Sophie (Dudeck) Bilski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.  Along with his parents; he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Golubski, Dorothy Kosek, Natalie Gore; and three brothers, Edward, Ferdinand, and Theodore Bilski.

Robert graduated in 1955 from Greene Township High School and then received a Bachelor of Art degree from Bethel College.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 – 1966.

Robert retired on April 19, 2004 from Real Services, where he worked from 1994-2004.  Prior to that, he owned both the Mint Julep and Castaway’s Restaurants in South Bend, IN.

On July 7, 1970, he married Lois Irene Ingram.  She passed away on January 6, 2009.

Robert is survived by his sister, Theresa (George) Strantz of South Bend, IN; his stepson, Michael (Margaret) Murphy of Granger, IN; two step grandsons; and several nieces & nephews.  

Robert had a three-piece band called the Bobby Ray Trio for many years, where he played both the accordion and keyboards. He was also a member of American Legion Post 357 in South Bend, IN.

Per Robert’s request, there will be no visitation or services.
