Robert Karl Luther

Robert (Bob) Karl Luther, 90, of South Bend, Indiana.

Announcing the passing of Bob on Sunday, 6/28/2026. He was born 9/20/1935 to Karl and Emma (Lunog) Luther in Three Oaks, MI.  He lived for many years in Galien, MI., before moving around ending up in South Bend, IN. Before retirement, he worked for Electro-Voice of Buchanan, MI, Healthwin of South Bend and last worked at St Joseph County City Building in the maintenance department.

Bob married Joyce Paris Hoover on 7/7/1979, who preceded him in death on 6/1/2011.

Bob attended Galien High School where he lettered in four sports. He was an official for 35 years with High School & College sports, where he refereed Girls Basketball & Softball, and Boys Basketball & Baseball. He was a five-time Michigan State Fast Pitch Softball Champion; a season ticket holder and dedicated fan of Notre Dame Women’s Basketball; worked as a parking attendant for 18 years with Notre Dame Football. Bob enjoyed traveling, auctions, and sharing crops from his garden with others.

Bob is survived by son Robert Jr (Debbie), daughter Debra Morgan, stepdaughter Joann (Todd) Chamberlain. Grandchildren include Bryan, Scott, Katie and Todd Luther, Melissa (Patrick) Cobbs, Matthew (SarahKate) Morgan and Faith (Matt) Champion, Great grandchildren include Kingsley & Atlas Cobbs and Sophia Hicks.

He was preceded in death by brother George Luther, sisters Myrtle Benke and Clara Mae Kaminski and grandson Jeffrey Luther.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on 7/6/2026 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
