Robert Terry Libbey

Robert Terry Libbey, 81, of South Bend, Indiana passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Robert was born on May 26, 1945 in San Bernardino, California to the late Ed and Jean (Krause) Libbey. On June 28, 1965 at First Congregational Church in Akorn, Ohio he married Karen L. (Dieckman) Libbey who survives him. He is also survived by one daughter, Tammy (Jon) Colson of South Bend, Indiana, four grandchildren, Jeremy (Kaliegh) Colson, Jacob (Megan Mead) Colson, Maggie (Ryan) Lammering and Luke Libbey, four sister-in-law’s, Judy Libbey, Kathy (Butch) Kenney, Carol (Larry) Kayla and Chris Matson, one brother-in-law, Bill (Kathy) Dieckman, Gary’s special friend, Linnea Bell and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was also preceded in passing by his son, Gary Libbey, his parents, Ed and Jean Libbey, brother, Ed Libbey and father and mother-in-law, Bill and Dottie Dieckman.

He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as an Industrial Salesman before taking early retirement and becoming part owner of Natcon.  He loved camping with his family, hiking, fishing and woodworking.  His grandchildren will cherish the memories of playing in the sawdust in his workshop and making things out of all his scrape wood and all the camping and fishing trips with Papa. Bob was a member of Unity of Michiana.  He was also a member of AA Michiana for 31 years where he mentored many. 

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held for Bob on October 24, 2026 from 1:00-4:00 at the Unity of Michiana with Rev. Sandie Vanik officiating. Friends and family are welcome to come and share memories of Bob.
