Randy K. Noland Obituary

Randy K. Noland, 79, passed away at his residence on the morning of Saturday, November 29, 2025, with his wife by his side. Randy was born on September 24, 1946 in Vancouver, WA to the late Tom and Imogene (Yockey) Noland.

In 1952, Randy and his family relocated from Washington to South Bend, IN, and he remained a life-long resident of the area.

Randy attended New Carlisle High School, where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth "Liz" Shaum. Randy and Liz graduated from high school in 1964 and Randy enlisted in the United States Army shortly after. He proudly served his country from 1964-1967. During this time, Randy was stationed in Pirmasens, Germany.

Randy and Liz were united in marriage on July 10, 1965 in Lydick, Indiana and traveled throughout seven different countries in Europe together. When Randy was honorably discharged from the military, they traveled back to the United States and made their permanent home in South Bend. Together, Randy and Liz raised two sons, Tye Kent and Corey David.

Randy was employed as an electrician, retiring in 2001 after 40 years of service in the industry. He was a proud member of the electrical workers union IBEW Local 153 for 55 years, and in 2004 he was awarded IBEW Man of the Year.

In addition to his union membership, Randy was also a member of Lydick United Methodist Church and PNA Fishermen's Club. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises (six in total), fishing, family gatherings and spending Februarys in Marco Island, FL with Liz.

Randy was actively involved in his family's lives, acting as Cub Scout Pack Leader when his sons were young, as well as umpiring District 11 baseball (including the 1987 Senior League World Series). Later in life, Randy could always be counted on to record get-togethers with the "big" camcorder, navigate the No-Land and No-Land II during fishing trips on Lake Michigan or play a round of pool with friends and family.

Randy's greatest love was being with his family, and he cherished the time he spent with them. He took enormous pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was present for every school play, sports function, award ceremony and family gathering. He loved spending time outdoors, and passed his love of fishing onto his son, grandson and great-grandsons. Randy loved and valued every member of his family individually. He was even able to meet his youngest great-grandchild, and first great-granddaughter, on video call shortly before passing.

Even as his illness progressed, Randy maintained his sarcastic sense of humor, his kind-hearted nature and thankfully, he remained as ornery as ever. As a result of the work and dedication of his wife and wonderful caregivers, Randy was able to spend his last two years in his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Randy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Liz Noland of South Bend, IN; sons Tye (Jackie) Noland of North Liberty, IN and Corey Noland of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren: Nicole (Justin) Youngs of Indianapolis, IN, Stacy (Megan) Noland of Grovertown, IN, Emily (Patrick) Lillis of West Lafayette, IN and Alex Noland of South Bend, IN; four great-grandchildren: Luke and Lane Noland, Paxton and Piper Lillis; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his stepfather, Eugene "Gene" Burton and daughter-in-law Kathleen "Kathy" Noland.
