Phyllis (Peggy) Bowers died peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the age of 97. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Jerry) Timm of Niles MI; son Marc Bowers of South Bend IN; granddaughters Karmin (Jason) Meade of Charleston SC; Megan (Jason) Hines of St. Joseph MI; Nicole (Dane) Bowers-Thompson of Cooper City FL; and six beautiful great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd (Vic) Bowers and her son Michael Bowers.
The youngest of two children, Peggy was born October 21, 1925, in Mishawaka to Mark and Ellen Faulkner. Following graduation from Mishawaka High School, she worked at Ball Band as part of the war effort. She married Vic in 1947 when the family moved to Bourbon IN. Later when her children started high school, she went to work for Manpower Development and Training, where laid off workers from Studebakers were retrained. She was later named the first state-wide registrar of Ivy Tech.
After retiring, Peg and Vic bought a winter home in Bonita Springs FL where they played golf and shuffleboard and enjoyed fishing on the gulf. Peggy was so proud of her golf hole-in-one she achieved when she was 83.
Peggy loved and was loved by all her family and had a unique ability to make and maintain friendships with people of all ages. She was beautiful, kind and loved animals, especially her dog Annabelle.
