Nancy Lee Clark Mell

Nancy Lee Clark Mell, 85, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2024, in Robin’s Nest, Mill Creek, Indiana.  Nancy was born on April 25, 1939 in LaPorte, Indiana to Lawrence Earl and Evelyn Louise (Cross) Clark and had lived in New Carlisle her whole life. On June 3, 1989 she married Jerry Mell, who survives.  Nancy is also survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” (Steve) Mrozinski of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; two sons, R. David (Michele) Makowski of Buchanan, Michigan and Mark Makowski of South Bend, Indiana; two step-daughters, Kimberly (Kim) Christian of Bisbee, Arizona and Kyra (Russ) Reese of Bridgman, Michigan; one step-son, Kris (Dianne) Mell of West Virginia; three grandchildren, Kristen Nicole (Aaron) Freitag of LaPorte, Indiana, Staci Lee (Matt Johnson) Mrozinski of Rolling Prairie, Indiana and Brad Joseph (Bernadette) Mrozinski of LaPorte, Indiana; five step-grandchildren,  Joy (Nick) Gumm of West Virginia, Jenny (Justin) Kanger of Michigan City, Indiana, Jacob (Wendy) Reese of St. Joseph, Michigan, Dustin (Heidi) Reese of Bridgman, Michigan and Kylie Reese of Stevensville, Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Reagan and Owen Henry Freitag;  five step-great grandchildren, Mason, Adyston, and Braylen Gumm and Charlie and Michael Catania; and one step-brother, Thornton (Ruth) Schwenk of Texas.  Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, N. Suzanne Makowski.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. EDT Tuesday, August 6, 2024 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, Indiana.  Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. EDT Tuesday in the funeral home.  Nancy was a 1957 graduate of New Carlisle High School and House of James Beauty College in 1959. She owned a beauty shop for many years and retired from the Village Shoppes, where she enjoyed the friendship of the girls and owner Bill.  Nancy was an animal lover, and especially loved Blanche, Missy and Dexter.  She loved to travel the states and especially Hawaii with her husband Jerry.
