Myles F. Hooton, 85, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in his home. Born November 2, 1938, to Fay N. and Mildred June Hooton in Chicago, IL, and was a lifelong New Carlisle, IN resident. Along with his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother, Norris Hooton; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hooton, and Connie Hooton; a brother-in-law, Marlyn Carlson; and several other extended family.
Myles graduated in 1956 from New Carlisle High School, before attending Clemson University in South Carolina for two years. He then graduated in 1981 from Indiana University South Bend with both a Business Finance Degree and a Business Management Degree. He retired in both 1991 and then 2001 from Bendix/Allied Signal/Honeywell Corporation, where he worked as an Aerospace Technician/Supervisor for a combined 32 years.
On May 23, 1964, he married Beverly A. Burger at Olive Chapel Church in New Carlisle, IN. Myles is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Beverly A. Hooton of New Carlisle, IN; three sons, Michael F. Hooton of New Carlisle, IN; Mitchell A. (Roanna) Hooton of New Carlisle, IN; Matthew C. (Dana) Hooton of Fishers, IN; seven grandchildren, Abigail Hooton, Clara (Zackery) Nicolosi, Brianna Hooton, Drew Hooton, Isabella Hooton, Jillian Hooton, and Kailee Hooton; one sister, Norma Carlson of Phoenixville, PA; two brothers, Arnold Hooton of Grand Rapids, MI; Richard (Marlene) Hooton of Goshen, IN; and several nieces & nephews.
Myles lived his life faithfully serving the Lord and those of his community, church, and family. Where words were few, he made up for in actions. Helping roast coffee for church services, mowing neighbors’ lawns, or fixing lawnmowers. His servant heart, intelligence, and humor will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Walk through Bendix Woods Park, attend a Wesleyan church service, drive by the Olive township cemetery, or mow a neighbor's lawn. His memory and legacy will be found there, as well as in the hearts of all those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the New Carlisle Wesleyan Church, 32645 Early Road, New Carlisle, IN, with Rev. Donald Bayne, Jr. and Rev. Paul Smith officiating. A luncheon and visitation will follow at the church. Burial will take place, later, in Olive Chapel Cemetery, New Carlisle, IN.
