Monica Jean Jeffers died on November 15, 2018. Monica was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 18, 1932, moving with her parents to South Bend in 1935. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Evelyn Jeffers, and her sister, Elizabeth. Monie is survived by her sister, Judy (Charlie) Quinn; niece, Sarah (John) Kuhny; nephews, Charles Quinn and James (Betsy) Quinn; great- nephews, Sammy Quinn and Jack Quinn, and great-nieces, Addison and Grace Quinn.
Monica worked at the University of Notre Dame for over 35 years, receiving the Reverend Theodore M. Hesburgh President’s Special Award for service to the University in 1986. She retired from Notre Dame in 1994. She worked in several departments including: Publications, Public Relations, the Vice President's Office for Academic Affairs, the Kellogg Center for Continuing Education as a conference coordinator, and the Department of Human Resources. Her knowledge of and love for Notre Dame were exemplified by her excellent work and personal attention she gave to everyone she encountered. Monica was also a fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Monica’s family is most grateful for the excellent care and kindness of the nurses and staff at Creekside Village.
Visitation for Monica will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the church, with Msgr. William Schooler presiding. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the St. Pius X Building Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com.
