Maydean Laureys Obituary

Maydean Laureys, 96, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 04:11 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 2026 at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, IN.

She was born on June 24, 1930 to the late Fred and Helen (Miller) Kring in LaPaz, IN, and has lived most of her life in New Carlisle.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Laureys; husband, Albert Laureys; one sister, Lois Redman; and six brothers, Fred, James, Robert, Charles, Wayne, and Michael Kring.  She was also preceded in death by her best buddy dog, Chubby.

Maydean graduated in 1948 from New Carlisle High School and worked for many years as a caterer for Personalized Catering of New Carlisle.

On June 26, 1948, as Maydean Kring, she married Albert Laureys at the former Sacred Heart Church in South Bend, IN.  Albert passed away on October 30, 2008.

Maydean is survived by her grandson, Matthew “Matt” Laureys; a daughter-in-law, Diana Laureys; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Kring and Peggy Kring; and many nieces & nephews.

Maydean was an avid bowler for 40 years.  She and her husband Al were the first husband and wife team to bowl a 300 in the same sanctioned league.  She Coached for 15 years for the Junior Bowling League in New Carlise, IN and was a member of the Indiana State United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Hall of Fame and the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) St. Joe Valley Association Hall of Fame in South Bend, IN.

From her only grandson Matt: “Grandma, I will miss you, the love you gave me, and all of your good cooking.  I will treasure all of our memories, for they will live on forever.  I know you are in heaven cooking for everyone.”  All of my love, Matt.

Cremation will take place.  A Private burial will take place at a later date in Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN.

Maydean’s family would like to thank the staff at Hamilton Grove for the wonderful care they provided for the past 2 ½ years.
