Maureen A. Trubac

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Trubac, 83 of South Bend, IN on Friday, February 26, 2021. She was born on December 13, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to Stanley and Mae (Cisson) Sanderson. She met her future husband Edward Trubac while in high school through her brother Stan. On December 27, 1958 they got married at St Anthony of Padua-Greenpoint, New York. Maureen was preceded in death by Edward on April 16, 2020 and her brother Stanley in 1999.

Maureen is survived by daughter Corinne Stanton of Holt, MI, son Michael (Kristin) Trubac of Traverse City, MI, grandchildren Adriana, Jessica, Grace, Mary, Spencer (Stephanie), Charlie and Kate, and brother Jeffrey Sanderson.

Maureen was an award-winning artist across many mediums. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from IUSB while raising her two children. She then went on to complete a Master’s in Fine Arts from Notre Dame. She was a teacher and a lifelong learner. She loved sharing her passion for art with all her grandchildren.

Over the years Maureen and Ed traveled extensively. From Asia to Africa, Europe to Australia they truly covered the globe. Throughout her life Maureen was a passionate card player. Pinochle, Euchre and her favorite – Bridge, where she continued to work towards higher Master levels.

She was a strong, passionate and fun lady. She will be missed.

A private memorial mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish, Notre Dame. Interment will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. To send online condolences, please visit www.kaniewski.com.
