Marvin John Podemski, II, 70, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on April 23, 2026 in his residence. He was born on May 16, 1955, to the late Marvin, Sr. and Maryann (Kline) Podemski Cooreman. On June 28, 1986, in the New Carlisle United Methodist Church, he married Sheryl Anne Williamson, who survives. Marvin is also survived by four daughters, Brooke (Joshua) Lawson of New Carlisle, IN, Kelsey (Kenny) Podemski of New Carlisle, IN, Shelby (Brandon) Gean of Argos, IN and Stefanie (Steve) Sears of Greencastle, IN; one son, Marvin Podemski, III of North Liberty, IN; sixteen grandchildren: Quentyn, Brianna, Rebecca, Wyatt, Liam, Kinsley, Isabella, Frances, Kain, Margeaux, Poppy, Tansy, Baby Bartoszewicz, Tristen, Kaitlyn and Kacie; two sisters, Patricia Turk of South Bend, IN, Nancy (David) Woods of Howell, MI; three brothers, Mark (Debbie) Podemski of North Liberty, IN, Martin Podemski of New Carlisle, IN, Thomas Cooreman of Edwardsburg, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Podemski Sr; mother, Maryann Cooreman; stepfather, Henry Cooreman; a cousin, Rebecca “Becky” Roegiers; and his in-laws, Shorty and Sue Williamson.
Marvin grew up learning the value of hard work on the farm at a very young age and later spent more than 35 years as a truck driver. He never knew a stranger and brought joy to so many, especially as Santa, sharing the magic of Christmas with all who knew him.
He enjoyed farming, collecting unique and miscellaneous treasures, especially guns, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and his loving wife, Sheryl. Marvin and Sheryl shared nearly 40 wonderful years of marriage together.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 20026 in the funeral home. Visitation will be also held from 9:00 am until 9:50 am prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Marvin’s honor to the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair, American Heart Association or the NRA.
