Marjorie L. Lechtanski

Marjorie Lucille Lechtanski, 97, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday September 26, 2024, in South Bend. 

She was born on May 3, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Glenn and Ruth (Trager) Bauer and was a lifelong area resident.  On September 18, 1948, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, she married Casimer J. Lechtanski, who preceded her in death on December 7, 2013.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Bauer and a brother-in-law, Olen Wesner.

Marjorie is survived by her only daughter, Susan (Michael) Kletka of South Bend, three grandchildren, Amanda (Todd) Fruth, Sarah (Laszlo) Hunyadi and Matthew (Carla) Kletka; fourteen great-grandchildren, Makayla, Aubrie, Aiden, Maxton, Isaac, Olivia, Addison, Lainey, Ellie, Sophie, Theodore Fruth, Corvin Hunyadi, Casey and Quinn Kletka, one great-great grandson, Lucus Fruth and a sister, Mary Ellen Wesner of South Bend.

Marjorie graduated from Washington Clay High School.  She worked as a Secretary and Bookkeeper for Robert Bauer Interiors for most of her career.  Marjorie enjoyed antiques, decorating her home, especially at Christmas, and vacationing to Siesta Key, Florida.  She also enjoyed dancing with “Guys and Dolls.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday October 3, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 State Hwy 933, South Bend, where friends may visit one hour prior to the Mass.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to Christ the King Catholic Church.  To send online condolences, please visit www.kaniewski.com
