Marilyn J. Chrzan Obituary

Marilyn J. Chrzan (Born: February 20, 1945; Died: February 23, 2025)

Marilyn Chrzan passed away peacefully on Sunday 2/23/25 in her residence at Trail Point Village.

Born in Niles, MI, the daughter of Elijah and Antionette Chrzan, Marilyn was a 1963 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Upon graduation she received her Bachelor of Science from St. Mary’s College in 1967 and went on to receive her Master of Science from the University of Notre Dame in 1971. As a Medical and Research Technologist, Marilyn contributed to vital research in microbiology at Northwestern Memorial and Cook County hospitals in Chicago, IL.

Throughout her entire life, Marilyn had a voracious appetite and love for reading books (mostly fiction) across just about any genre, often making her way through a 200 page book in a single day. In addition to her kind disposition (and sweet tooth), Marilyn will be missed and remembered for her quick wit and hearty laugh.

Marilyn, was a devout Catholic and member of Christ the King Church in South Bend, IN.

She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Carolyn (Bujeker) Chrzan, nephew Jeff Chrzan, niece Nicole (Carr) Chrzan, and three grandnieces, Madison, Harper and Grace. She also had many friends at Trailpoint Village, where she was not only a member of the community but also thrived as a volunteer, receiving numerous accolades for her contributions throughout her time there.

She is preceded in death by her father Elijah “Chick” Chrzan, Antionette (Grabarz) Chrzan, and her brother James A. Chrzan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2025 in Christ the King Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Monday in the church.
