Marietta P. Smith

Marietta Pauline (Wagner) Smith, 91, was called home to be with the lord on August 25, 2026 peacefully in her sleep. Marietta was born on January 30th, 1935 to Elmer and Mary Wagner in South Bend, In where she spent all her life. She graduated from Central High School in 1953. Then went on to work at The Morris Inn for many years and retired from Valley Lea Laboratory. She was a devoted member of Northwest United Methodist Church where she was a part of the women's group and taught Sunday school. She cherished spending time with family and friends. She was on multiple bowling leagues while raising her 4 children. She was an avid Notre Dame football fan. She enjoyed the Game Show Network and playing BINGO. She is survived by her 4 children Jennifer (John) Parks, Jay Smith (Lyndia Silsbee), Julie Pressler and Jeffery Smith.  Her 5 grandchildren Lindsey Smith, Stephanie Pressler (David Jones) Rachel (Noel) Ibarra, Jacob (Becca) Parks and Lillian Pressler (Jonathon Bayless). Her 3 great grandchildren Cambria Pressler, Gwen and Nora Ibarra. She also leaves behind many other family and friends. One close family friend Julianne (Meghan) Smith who she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary. 2 sisters Helen (Bud) Polk and Betty (Eugene) Ingle. A son in law, David Pressler. Herb Smith. Her beloved cat Oscar. She is now reunited with them in glory. Special thanks to Hickory Creek of Crawfordsville and Franciscan Health of Lafayette for taking care of Marietta in her final days.  Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.
