"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under Heaven...." Ime passed away on Saturday December 29, 2018 at her home, with her daughter by her side. She was born on October 30, 1924 in her grandmother's home to the late John and Gladys Everman. On April 12, 1941, as Marian Everman, she married Richard "Dick" Bourdon, who preceded her in death on December 7, 1982. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Chamberlain and great-grandson, Ryan Chamberlain. Ime is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Mike) Upp of South Bend, her son Rick (Nija) Bourdon of Walkerton, IN; a son-in-law, Darrell "Buster" Chamberlain of South Bend; sister-in-law, Midge Bourdon of South Bend; six grandchildren, Michael (Terri) Chamberlain, Patrick (Lisa Batiz) Chamberlain, Kevin (Angie) Starkweather, Angela (James) Capps, Bonnie (Tim) Algeo and Tomas Kazokas; eight great-grandchildren, David and Chris Chamberlain, Joshua and Brandon Capps, Travis Starkweather, Brittany Jones, Max and Savannah Algeo; a great-great granddaughter, Corbin Chamberlain, many nieces and nephew, one of which she was especially closed to, Cynthia Schreiner. She became a member of the Ardmore Brethren Church in 1937. She filled many posts throughout the years. She served as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher, Jr. Sunday School Superintendent, Sisterhood Patroness and Child Evangelism Teacher. She was also a member of the Council of Deacons and Secretary of the Woman's Missionary Society. Outside of Church, Ime served as President of the Ardmore P.T.A., was active in Girl Scouts and in Little League. Ime enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking for her family and friends, camping, traveling, playing cards and for years eating lunch on Wednesdays with "the girls." She loved to spend time with the family and play games with the grandchildren. She was proud to be a wife, mother and grandmother. Ime will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday January 2, 2019, at the Kaniewski Funeral Homes, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday January 3, 2019 at the Ardmore Brethren Church, 23370 Ardmore Trail, South Bend, where friends can visit for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Ardmore Brethren Church or to Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County, 502 E. Sample St., South Bend, IN 46601.
