Lynne Mohler-Musgrave Obituary

Lynne Joann Mohler-Musgrave, 73, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. She was born on May 3, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Lawrence and Evelyn (Jahnke) Mohler. On July 21, 1984 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in South Bend, Indiana she married Dennis Musgrave who survives. Lynne is also survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Keller of Simpsonville, South Carolina, two sons, Jeffrey (Amanda) Musgrave of South Bend, Indiana and Sean Musgrave of South Bend, Indiana, twelve grandchildren; Jordan, Chase, Nathan, Clay, Caeden, Sadie, Jakob and Jackson Keller, Parker and Emma Wotring, Hadlee and Kinley Musgrave, one sister, Mary Lou (Robert) Wisniewski of Mesa, Arizona, two great grandchildren, Milo and Ezekiel Keller, three nieces and nephews, Mark, Beth and Michael Wisnewski and one brother-in-law, Jack (Kathy) Musgrave. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law’s, Jack and Gladys Musgrave.

Lynne passed away due to complications during heart surgery on Tuesday, May 5th. She had just celebrated her 73rd birthday on May 3rd with family.

Lynne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved being with her 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She enjoyed her monthly lunches with "the girls." Her friends from her childhood and friends she had taught with.

Lynne was an honest, caring, thoughtful, smart, funny, loving and dependable person. If you were her friend, you were friend for life!

Lynne taught at Dickinson Middle School in the South Bend School Corporation for 37 years. She was an 8th grade science teacher and served as a team leader for most of those years. She was always eager to help out at school in any way she could, working at sporting events, organizing graduation activities and serving on different school committees. Lynne would make sure that staff member's birthdays and anniversaries were celebrated by making them cakes or organizing parties.

Lynne was a proud graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington and received her master’s degree from IU, South Bend. She was a distinguished member of Alpha Phi sorority and cherished the friendships she made while there by staying in touch with many of her sorority sisters. She was very vocal in her support of IU basketball and football. She couldn't believe that she saw the day when they won a National Championship in football and "sucked" in basketball.

Not participating in sports herself (she said she "couldn't handle the pressure") she was an avid sports fan. She loved going to watch her friends play softball and developed a friendship with ex-Notre Dame quarterback Joe Montana, when he played on her favorite softball team.

She was a devoted Cubs fan and was ecstatic when they won the 2016 World Series. She loved watching Notre Dame football and NCAA basketball tournament games with friends at a local bar.

Lynne was a "homebody" who loved to read; usually a book or two every couple of weeks. She was a member of a book club and loved trading and recommending readings. She enjoyed watching investigative mystery shows.

Lynne loved dogs and their loyalty, devotion and love; probably because that's what she was. Loyal, devoted and loving.

We will all miss her dearly. She will always be in our hearts and minds. A wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend.
