Lorraine M. Robaska

South Bend- Lorraine M. Robaska, Age 98  of Morgan Street died at 5:10 a.m. at Milton Home, South Bend.  Mrs. Robaska was born Oct.20, 1925 in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Aloysius and Henrietta (Kubiak) Deranek.  She was a 1944 graduate of Central High School, in South Bend.

In 1948, as Lorraine Deranek, she married Walter Walczewski, who preceded her in death.  On November 1, 1968 she married Richard R. Robaska, who preceded her in death on August 25, 1985.

She is survived by a son, Patrick Walczewski and daughter-in-law, Delphia Walczewski; three step-grand daughters, Deana (Gerard) Hays of Shelby Township, Michigan; Dian (Larry) Peak of Mooresville, NC and Melinda (Jeff) Woolman of Granger, IN; seven step-great-grandchildren, namely, Mason and Cari Peak, Halle, Evan and Paige Hays and Claire and Drew Woolman.

In her early years, she was a member of the USO in South Bend, where she enjoyed singing with various bands, and also entertaining the servicemen.  She also attended Shirk’s Piano and Organ and learned how to play the Organ at the age of 64 years.  She entertained at several nursing homes in the Michiana area which gave her great joy.  She also was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital, in South Bend.  She was an avid reader, having belonged to the Literary Guild- Book of the Month Club.  She also enjoyed bowling, having won several trophies.  She enjoyed family gatherings and being with her great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Robaska was a legal Secretary and was a member of the Legal Secretaries Club. She was also a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, South Bend. 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday March 22, 2024 in the Chapel at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN 46628.  Family and friends may gather one hour prior in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Hedwig Church 331 South Scott Street, South Bend, IN  46601.  Condolences for the family may be made at www.kaniewski.com.
