Mr. Lionel S. Johnson of South Bend, Indiana passed on from his earthly life on Feb 28, 2020.
Lionel was born on December 27, 1957 in South Bend, IN to the union or Robert B and Ida M. Boatman-Johnson.
Lionel graduated from Washington High School in 1976 and soon after entered the United States Army with 20 years of service, retiring in 1996 as Sergeant 1st Class 63H4k. He was honorably discharged with various medals and awards. After retiring he worked as a Security Guard, Customer Service Loan Agent and Retail Sales. He further his education by studying Mechanical Maintenance and Business Management at Ivy Tech State University.
Lionel had a deep love for his family and friends. His passions were fishing, barbequing, teaching and helping those in needs.
Lionel was joined in holy matrimony to Brenda Eppenger-Williams on Nov 17, 2005.
Lionel is survived by his loving and devoted wife Brenda Johnson, one daughter Latoya (Calvin) Johnson, one son Lionel Johnson, one stepdaughter Katrina (Curtis) Bethel, one stepson Richard Williams IV all of South Bend, IN, a sister Diana (Elliott) Callahan of Cedar Hill, TX, one brother Rev Eugene Johnson; 4 grandchildren Jayda, Calvin, Calandria, Caderia Strickland, thirteen step grandchildren Curtis, Kennedy, Kenndall Bethel, Richard V, Nicoles, Taylin, Jeremiah, Josiah, Rashawn, Raya, Reagan, Raina, Rory Williams all of South Bend, IN, Sis-Laws Sheree Eppenger, Diana(Jessie) Winston, Wilehmia Eppenger of South Bend, IN, Bro-Law Adolphus Eppenger of KY, cousin/bestfriend Jimmy Tate of South Bend, IN and best friend Leroy (Inez) Cassidy of South Carolina. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death was his father, Robert B. Johnson, his mother Ida M. Johnson and sister Roberta B. James. Father-In-Law Darnell Eppenger, Mother-in-Law Cecelia Eppenger, Sister-in-Law Ernestine and Harriet Eppenger, Brother-in-Law Charles Eppenger

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday March 7, 2020 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN from 10:00 until 11:00 am. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am in the funeral home.
