Linda Arlene Spriggs

Linda Arlene Spriggs, age 69, parted this earth on May 5, 2020, in New Carlisle, Indiana. She was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to Ferdinand Schultz and Estelle Bates. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Ronald Spriggs, her daughter Amy (husband Steve Passwater), grandson Joseph, daughter Julie Middlebrook (husband Mike McClaran). She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Norton, grandson Daniel Passwater, brother Fred Schultz, and son-in-law, Jamie Middlebrook.
Linda is described by her friends and family as kind, gentle, and sometimes silly, but always sweet and patient. So sweet in fact, she’d sometimes waken her daughters with song, “It’s time to get up in the morning. It’s time to get up if you’re able..” She was so proud of her children and grandson, and enjoyed doting on them all. On any given day you might have seen her holding hands with her husband and soulmate, cruising together in their convertible, or relaxing watching Jeopardy after dinner.  She didn’t love cooking, but her family loved her homemade meals, especially her famous fried chicken and potato salad, and she could never deny a request for it. She loved Disney cartoons as much as murder mysteries, the Florida coast as much as home, poetry more than novels, dessert more than dinner, and the music of her youth over modern day tunes. She loved animals, art, and flowers, especially daffodils, pansies and sweet peas, and she had an exceptional knack for finding four-leaf clovers. She was generous to a fault, sometimes parting with valuable possessions, much to the chagrin of her daughters. They never complained though, how could they? She was the sweetest, and they learned to be as generous by her example. She taught her daughters to be compassionate, kind, and tolerant, and to never judge a book by its cover. 
She endured many tribulations during her life, and overcame each obstacle with grace and faith. The brain cancer that claimed her was cruel and unjust, but she never once felt sorry for herself. The disease swiftly stole her speech and mobility, but not her sweet smile. During the final days of her life, she was surrounded by her loving family, who showered her with hugs and kisses to comfort her. She faced her diagnosis and death with faith and courage, leaving everyone in admiration and awe of her incredible strength. The world has lost an angel, and she will truly be missed by all. If there be a heaven, she is there, and they’re lucky to have her.
