Lee R. Hoggard, 82, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 9, 1942 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Joseph and Bernice (Spriggs) Hoggard. On July 3, 1965 he married Rita Ann Kern who preceded him in death on June 23, 2008. Lee was also preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Hoggard. He is survived by two sons, Brian Hoggard of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Scott (Erica) Hoggard of New Carlisle, Indiana, four grandchildren, Collin (Meagan) Babcock of New Carlisle, Indiana, Owen (Mercede) Hoggard of South Bend, Indiana, Kaylee Hoggard of New Carlisle, Indiana and Colby Lee Hoggard of New Carlisle, Indiana and two great grandchildren, Larson Babcock, and Asher Hoggard.

Lee was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed wood working and building his own muzzleloaders. He worked as a self-employed contractor throughout his life.

A visitation for Lee will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN from 4:00 pm Est until 7:00 pm Est. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February at 10:00 am Est in the Kaniewski Funeral Home South Bend. Private family burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice Foundation in Lee’s honor.
