Lawrence Gerard Feeks Obituary

Lawrence Gerard Feeks, 61, died of cancer on November 4, 2025.

He was born at Bethesda Naval Hospital on September 14, 1964, the fourth of seven children, to Edmond Michael Feeks, and Sandra Estelle Flood Feeks. After several Navy moves, the family settled in Jacksonville, FL. He graduated from Wolfson High School there. He then earned an associate’s degree at Holy Cross Junior College in South Bend, IN.

Larry worked a variety of jobs in the Jacksonville area but spent his happiest years placing special needs adults into meaningful employment. His inspirational qualities of patience and diligence were crucial in his role as a job coach. Larry was well loved by his many clients who never shied from expressing their gratitude and affection whenever they'd cross paths in subsequent years. The bag boy at Publix, who had been a client of his, would always call out, “Larry’s mom!” when he saw her in the store.

His work ethic was very strong, rarely missing a day at his job.

He later went to school to be a medical technician, which enabled him to care for our mother during the last 6 years of her life. He was her companion, chauffeur, and primary caregiver, or as she would joke, her "keeper."

After her death, he returned to South Bend, IN, near three of his siblings and their families.

Larry loved his many nieces and nephews. He was staunchly pro-life, and was greatly appreciated for the love he put into knitting countless baby blankets.

Larry remembered as no one else could- - what aunt or uncle or grandparent did, said, made, achieved, owned, and who all the people are in this old photograph.

But the joy of his life was raising his son, Alex, and he went to great personal sacrifice providing the best education for him.

Prior to his diagnosis, Larry worked at Walmart, until commencing medical leave in June. He was beloved by his coworkers.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Anthony Feeks. He is survived by his son Julian Alexander “Alex” Lindquist; by his siblings Ed (Mary), Mike (Bridget), Mary Davis (Eric), Elizabeth Koller (Steve), and Bill (Laura); by his aunt, Jacquelyn Flood Pilver; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Anthony of Padua in South Bend, IN at 11:00 on November 21st. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the church prior to the Mass. He will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in South Bend.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that contributions in his memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. https://www.stjude.org
