Lawrence G. "Larry" Jarze

Lawrence G. "Larry" Jarze, 79, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born on April 18, 1945, in Chicago, IL, to the late George L. and Evelyn A. (Krojniewski) Jarze.  He moved to South Bend at the age of seven and lived the rest of his life in the area. Larry graduated from Washington High School in 1963.  On October 11, 1969, in Holy Family Catholic Church, he married Mary Kubiak, who preceded him in death on August 9, 2018.  Larry went on to graduate Valparaiso University in 1972.  He worked as a Project Manager for Bayer Corp. in Elkhart and Mishawaka for 34 years, until retiring in April 2010.  Larry is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (James Scheetz) Gaul of South Bend, his sons, David Jarze of Indianapolis, IN and Kevin Jarze of South Bend and his grandson, Jacob Gaul.  Larry was a soccer referee in the South Bend area for many years.  He is a member of the Michiana Soccer-Referee Association (M.S.R.A.), where he also served as Treasurer.  He was also a member of the Michiana Soccer Association (M.S.A.), the St. Casimir's Bowling League at Bowlers Country Club, Z.B. Falcons and was a former member of the Married Men's Club and Past President at St. Casimir.  Larry volunteered at the St. Anthony chapter of St. Vincent de Paul.  He was a fair golfer and a bad fisherman, though he loved to try at both.  He was a hardworking, loving husband, father and grandfather.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday March 24, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday March 25, 2025 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the Mass.  Memorial contributions may be made to the account of Jacob Gaul c/o Everwise Credit Union, for his continuing education at Purdue University.  To send online condolences, please visit http://www.kaniewski.com.
