Larry J. Paszli, age 81 passed away on Monday, June 3rd, 2024 at Wedgewood Pines Group Home surrounded by family after his long illness. He was born on August 21st, 1942 in South Bend to Joseph and Evelyn Paszli, and was a lifelong resident.
He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1960 and remained a lifelong fan and proud alumni. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 and was stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Larry was always a proud veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Janice. He is also survived by his sons, Kevin of Dallas, NC, Col. Stephen (Buffie) Kaplachinski (Ret.) of Steilacoom, WA, David (Jennifer) Kaplachinski of Mishawaka; his daughter, Kara Brando of South Bend; and a sister, Sharon (Tom) Nowicki of South Bend. Left to cherish his memory are his wonderful grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Aiden and Autry Paszli of Dallas, NC, and Ellie and Olivia Kaplachinski of Mishawaka.
Larry was active his whole life in all sports. He loved St. Joseph High School, Notre Dame Football, where he ushered for 40 years, bowled on many leagues, and played golf everywhere (even on Maui, Hawaii). He traveled everywhere from Europe to Hawaii, to all over the USA. Some of his best trips were Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon. He loved history and loved to go places with family and friends all over this great country. He was kind, gentle and always had a joke to tell anyone who would listen for a minute.
Larry retired from Bendix/Allied Signal after over 30 years of service. He then went back to work at Elbel Golf Course for many years. He also was a member of the German Township Board of Trustees and loved being involved in his community. He will be missed by family and friends one and all.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
