Kevin K. Weinberg

Kevin K. Weinberg, 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 8:45 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, in his home surrounded by family.  Kevin was born on August 22, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana to Frederick A. and Mary Jayne (Kelly) Weinberg, and was a lifelong resident.  He retired in 2025 from JJC where he was employed for 19 years.  Kevin had also been a Travelers Insurance Agent for 13 years, Owner of the Harvest Inn Restaurant for 13 years, a Farmer Bureau Insurance Agent for 15 years and an Independent Insurance Agent for 20 years.  On June 16, 1962, in St. Patrick’s Church, he married Janice L. Jankowski, who preceded him in death on April 11, 2007.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Kelly F. Weinberg on December 20, 2007.  Kevin is survived by two daughters, Laura W. (Jack) Latson and Karen L. (Ray) Glon both of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, James K. (Jennifer) Weinberg of New Carlisle, Indiana and Thomas K. (Jill) Weinberg of Edwardsburg, Michigan; twelve grandchildren, Katie (Gage) Miller, Zachary (Brooke) Fussey, Becca (Amber) Latson, Jack (Alisia) Latson, Kevin (Alyssa) Weinberg, Sam (Desiree) Fussey, Jenna Weinberg,  Jake Weinberg, Koley, Weinberg, Kiley Weinberg, Katie (Tony) Ekovich, and Coley Glon; seven great-grandchildren, Mila, Fox, Ford, Vivian, Porter, Pryor and Palmer, and “one on the way”; and by many wonderful nieces and nephews, all of which he was very close to, and Carol Heilman, a cherished friend to our father and our family, who not only was generous and kind, but her presence brought comfort and dignity to our father’s final days. Kevin was a 1958 graduate of South Bend St. Joe where he earned 11 varsity letters in Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track.  He played football for Marquette University and graduated in 1962.  He held an IHSAA Official’s License for over 60 years in Football, Basketball, Softball, Baseball, and Official’s Observations.  For over 25 years he was a member of the Chain Crew for Notre Dame home football games.  Kevin was the Little League Indiana District 11 Administrator for 35 years helping form and run the District 11 umpires’ association while hosting the Senior League Softball Regionals for 20 years as tournament director. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025 in St. Patrick’s Church. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick Church.   Memorial Contributions should be directed to St. Patrick’s Church.
