Julie J. Ratajczak, 67, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022. She was born on July 15, 1954 in South Bend, Indiana to the late David H. and Mary Ellen (Zoss) Graham. Julie is survived by her husband Dennis J. Ratajczak of South Bend, Indiana, two daughters, Kristine A. Johnson (Damen Mroczek) of South Bend, Indiana, Lisa D. (Mitch) Evans of Granger, Indiana, one son, Jesse D. Ballew of Fort Wayne, Indiana, five grandchildren; Madeline Hubbard, Hayden Ratajczak, Samuel Johnson, Dylan Beavo, and Quinn Evans, one sister, Linda Schulte, and life-long friend, Vivian Miller.
Julie was her best self in the presence of children. She possessed a magical quality which allowed her to truly play, imaginative and free as a young mother and later as a grandmother. Her home was a welcome place to explore the woods, play countless games at the table, enjoy a homecooked meal, watch a favorite movie for the 10th time, or create an adventure of your own in and around the house. Many friends and family members have commented that they grew up knowing they were always welcome to be themselves in her home on Pine Road.
Julie spent her final years in close contact with her life-long friend, Vivian, and treasured spending time with her two dogs, Gus and Sadie. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sitting with a thrilling crime or mystery novel. She loved flowers and filled her yard with a garden of color. The loss of Julie Joanne is the loss of a grandmother, a mother, a wife, a sister, a friend and a sensitive, openhearted spirit.
