Judith Kay “the Queen” Monjeau, 82 years old, of Niles, MI, passed away on February 11, 2025, in Kissimmee, FL after a brief illness. She was born August 26, 1942, to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Brucker) Bartkowiak of South Bend, IN.
Judy is survived by her husband, Richard L. Monjeau, of 64 years, whom she married in 1960 at Holy Cross Church in South Bend, IN, and their 4 Children: Christopher Keith (Deborah) Monjeau of South Bend, Sheila Marie (Mark) Letica of Denver, NC, Mary Ann (Gordon) Warner of Niles, and Kathrine Suzanne Monjeau of Denver, NC, and her brother Michael (Mary) Bartkowiak of Mishawaka, IN. Judy was preceded in death by her brothers James and Joseph John Bartkowiak and her sisters Marilyn Bartkowiak and Patricia (Bartkowiak) Carter, and a great granddaughter Leigha.
Judy is further survived by 9 grandchildren: Christopher Adam (Mary) Monjeau of Niles, Nicole (Dustin) Tighe of South Bend, Kevin Monjeau of South Bend, Stefan Josip Letica, Alexander Marko Letica and Luke Andrew Letica of Denver, NC, Richard William Junk of Chicago, IL, Amanda Leigh (Kassidy) Phipps of Akron, IN, and Drew Trepanier of Farth, NE.
Additionally, she is survived by 15 great grandchildren: Lili, Hannah and Isabella Monjeau of Niles, Mackenzie and Madison Huffman of South Bend, Jackson and Carter Tighe of South Bend, Sophia, Gabriella and Lexianna Noel Monjeau of South Bend, Bralen and Alayna Jones of Akron IN, Aubrey Junk of Manassas, Va, Aryus Anderson of Dowagiac, MI, and Malcolm Trepanier of Farth, NE.
Judy graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1960. Her pastimes were raising her family, cooking, playing jokes on people and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
At her request, she has been cremated and the family will have a celebration of her life and funeral at St. Mark Catholic Church, 3 N 19th Street, Niles, MI., on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Visitation at St. Mark Catholic Church will be from 10am – 11am. Mass of Christian Burial from 11am – 12pm. Lunch at St. Mark Church Hall from 12pm – 1:30pm.
Funeral procession for graveside burial of ashes at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend, IN will commence from the church at 1:45 pm., following the luncheon.
