Juan P. Arevalo

Juan P. Arevalo, 77, passed away on Tuesday July 26, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 5, 1945 in El Salvador to the late Nicholas and Maria Luisa (Garcia) Arevalo. Juan married Teresa Aguilar who survives. He is also survived by four children (Arely, Estela, Eddie and Yannet), ten grandchildren (Samantha, Yezabella, Jennifer, Stephanie, Celeste, Anthony, Eddie, Sofia, Alexi and Ismayla), and four great grandchildren (Olivia, Joseph, Lexi and Mia).

Juan was known for working hard and sacrificing for others. He enjoyed the outdoors, harvesting, fishing, dancing “El Chubasco” and making others laugh. He made sure to create endearing names for those he loved, “Pollo, Frijolito, Chimbolito, Ormiguita, Vieja Sarca, Colocha” and on.  “Abuelo’s” funny sounds are now carried on by Anthony, qwick, qwick. He looked forward to Arely’s coffee and made sure to remind Estela, “Los que cuidan a sus padres, Dios los bendice” expressing his gratitude. He was incredibly gentle and patient. On September 28, 2017 he decided to be baptized as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Juan loved listening to and memorizing the word of God. He instilled love in our hearts and will always be with us. 

A visitation for Juan will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on August 1, 2022 at 1:00 pm with visitation for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
