Joseph T. Cloonan, 83, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 4:51 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN.

He was born on August 28, 1942 to the late Joseph Thomas, Sr. and Estelle Marie (Lance) Cloonan in Somerville, NJ, and has lived in New Carlisle, IN since 1989.

Joseph received a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering, from Purdue University.  He served his country from 1966-1972 in the U.S. Army, where he was a Vietnam War Veteran.

Joseph was retired from I/N Tek in New Carlisle, IN, where he worked as an Electrical Engineer and Computer Consultant for over 40 years.

On May 6, 1972, he married Judith D. Foreman at St. Columba Catholic Church in Chicago, IL.  He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Judith D. Cloonan of New Carlisle, IN; two daughters, Dawn (Michael) Gentry of Medaryville, IN; Bayliss (Timothy) DeCocker of Osceola, IN; one son, Daniel (Susan) Cloonan of Osceola, IN; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cecilia Cloonan of Palm Bay, FL.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. EST Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 p.m. EST Friday, September 12, 2025 at St. John Kanty Catholic Church, 7012 N 600 E, Rolling Prairie, IN, with Rev. Michael Heimer officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John Kanty Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, IN, where Military Honors will take place.
