Joseph Robert Burleson

Joseph Robert Burleson, 42 of Indianapolis, passed away after a six year battle with ALS on February 12, 2024. Joseph is survived by his father Dennis Burleson, South Bend, two sons, Nicolas and Lucas of North Carolina,  three sisters, Cassandra (Brad) Burleson-Sandberg, Granger, Lindsey Burleson, South Bend and Erin Burleson, Elkhart, his mother Rebecca (Lee) Crockett, Bristol, and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Joe was born March 23, 1981 in Elkhart Indiana.

Joe was a 1999 graduate of Elkhart Memorial. He received his B.S. and Masters degree in education from IU Bloomington Indiana. Joe started the Indianapolis School of Excellence where he was the principal for two years. He later taught 5th and 6th grade English Language Arts at the Stoneybrook Intermediate Middle school in Indianapolis.

A family Celebration of Life will take place on March 23, 2024 from 1:00-3:00pm at Kaniewski Funeral home 3545 Bendix Drive South Bend.

Joe loved sports especially baseball where he played Semi- Pro baseball for 5 years.
