Joseph B. Brothers Obituary

Joseph B. Brothers, 65, of Niles, Michigan passed away at 8:59 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2024 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.  Joseph was born on January 3, 1959 in South Bend to Walter and Mildred (Kagel) Brothers.  He retired from Campbell Ford.  On May 27, 1989 in St. Anthony de Padua Church, South Bend, Indiana, he married Maria V. Sayer, who survives.  Joseph is also survived by two sons, Allen and Steven Brothers; two sisters, Millie (David) Hack and Mary (David Makielski) Niedbalski; brother-in-law, Chris (Jeanette) Sayer; and his two dogs, Angel and his therapy dog Buddy.  A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2024 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  Joseph bowled for 45 years at Chippewa Bowl and Beacon Bowl. He bowled two 300 games. His first 300 game was at Beacon Bowl in 2004 and his second 300 game was at the Indiana St. Bowling Association in Fort Wayne in 2005.   Joseph enjoyed cooking and grilling. He was a NASCAR and the Chicago Cubs fan and a huge Notre Dame fan. Memorial Contributions may should be directed to Pet Refuge or the American Kidney Foundation. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of nurses and doctors that cared for Joe in the Memorial Hospital ICU.
