Jonathan Charles "Jon" Graeber Obituary

Jonathan Charles “Jon” Graeber, 55, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away unexpectedly, at 2:57 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN.

He was born on February 13, 1970 to Richard Dean and Rebecca (Runnels) Graeber in Crawfordsville, IN, and has lived in New Carlisle, IN for the past 25 years. 

Jon graduated in 1988 from Gaylord High School in Gaylord, MI.  He was currently employed as an Ironworker with Ironworker Local 1 in Chicago, IL for 30 plus years, where he traveled all over the country.  Jon was also a self-employed farmer and loved his horses.  He was a former police officer on the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.  

He is survived by his son, Tyler Jonathan Graeber of New Carlisle, IN; his mother, Rebecca “Becky” Runnels-Jose of New Carlisle, IN; and numerous aunts and uncles.  He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Dean Graeber; and his stepfather, Dennis Ray Jose.

Jon enjoyed riding is Harley Davidson Motorcycle and hunting with his friend, Ed.  He was an avid golfer, skier, and a truck and car mechanic.  Jon was always ready to help a friend when they called- he was a true “friend’s friend”. 

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Noon CST Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Sauktown Church of Christ, 8751 E 150 N, Mill Creek, IN  46365, with Pastor Greg Jaggers officiating.
