John J. Michalski Obituary

John J. Michalski, 82, of New Carlisle, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born December 30, 1940, to the late Joseph and Anna (Glon) Michalski. He served in the Air Force, from 1958 to 1962. On January 30, 1965 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, He married the love of his life Gloria Buzalski, who preceded him in death on August 18, 2020. Surviving are his sister, Barbara (Larry, deceased) Bromley; Two nieces, Rita (Dave) Cavin and Sally Brockwell; two nephews, Mark (Cheryl) and Michael (Ann) Bromley:  numerous Great Nieces and Great Nephews.  A child of his heart, Alison (Richard) Abbott and his sunshine his granddaughter of his heart Haylee (Piszczka – “peeshka”) Abbott.  He retired from the University Of Norte Dame, which he loved dearly. He served as the Equipment/Transportation Manager for the Norte Dame Football Team, “GO IRISH”. He was the Past Department Commander of the American Legion where his logo was a triangle that is the strongest shape there is. Any weight placed on it is evenly distributed on all 3 sides which represented the American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary “The Legion Family Strength”.  He was most proud of the Sagamore of the Wabash award that he received from the State of Indiana and had displayed in his home  John believed in education, he always encouraged people to greatness.  Now rest with your loved ones, your work here is done.
