John E. Rowlison

John E. Rowlison, 79, of Niles, MI, passed away at 9:33 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 4, 1942 to the late Clare Rowlison and Vera (Byron) Kellogg in Kalamazoo, MI, and has lived in Niles, MI since 1978.  

On March 12, 1977, he married Lois J. Bumgarner in Niles, MI.  Lois passed away on February 3, 2016. Along with his parents and wife; he was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Rowlison.  

John retired in 1999 from AEP in South Bend, IN, where he worked as a Storeroom Supervisor for 28 years.

John is survived by his three daughters, Rebecca (Lenard Salenis) Rowlison of Grand Junction, MI; Jessie (James) Heron of Niles, MI; Mary (Danny) Balos of Niles, MI; one son, Tim (Janice) Rowlison of Three Oaks, MI; grandchildren, Mark, James Lee, Falon, Jacqueline, Heather, Jamie, Brittany, Ashlea, Bradley, Jordan, Austin, and Riley; one sister, Roxanne (Bill) Sauve of Hernando, FL; two brothers, Tom (Sue) Sweet of Watervliet, MI; Mike (Judy) Sweet of South Haven, MI; 18 great grandchildren; his loving friend, Susan Pyle of Bloomindale, MI; and his mother-in-law, Jessie Bumgarner of Niles, MI.

John was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was a member of First Church of God in Niles, MI; volunteered for Meals on Wheels; and was a past member of the Niles Masonic Lodge.  John enjoyed golfing, having Friends Breakfast on Thursday mornings; and was an avid University of Michigan Football Fan.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Pastor Bob Jackson officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted.
